CARBOXITHERAPY is a cosmetic procedure originated in France, defined by the application of medicinal CO2 gas in the skin or subcutaneous tissue, depending on the reason for treatment. Indications are various such as cellulite, localized fat, sagging, striae (stretch marks) and dark circles.
During its diffusion through the tissues, the gas causes vasodilation and release of oxygen, activating the metabolism at the site. When infused into the subcutaneous tissue where the fat is stored, the gas movement itself breaks down and destroys fat cells. Both the activation of metabolism and destruction of fat cells promotes the desirable effects of this treatment: reduction of cellulite, elimination of fat deposits, collagen production and circulation improvement.
Pure medicinal carbon dioxide is nontoxic and non-embolic; before starting this treatment, always check the source of the gas (White-Martins and Oximil are the best brands), the skills of professionals who will run the applications (physician preferencially) and if the equipment is recognized by Health Authorities and if it is properly calibrated. The main contraindications are pregnancy, coagulation disorders, chronic diseases and intolerance to pain.
